Health urges to avoid contagion of Covid-19 in the face of electoral events | government

The Secretary of the Department of Health, Lorenzo González Feliciano, this morning urged the population to avoid participating in mass activities and closings of political campaigns, in order to minimize the risks of coronavirus infections.

“This weekend various political activities were announced that could cause an increase in positive cases of Covid-19 and put the lives of many people at risk in the coming weeks. Our call is to sanity and the responsibility of all, both the presidents of the political parties and the citizens, to avoid unnecessary risks that could lead to fatalities, ”said González Feliciano.

In the same way, González Feliciano urged citizens to exercise their right to vote on November 3 safely, following all prevention measures to avoid contagions.

The Health Minister recalled that on the island “we have community transmission, so anyone can be a carrier of the virus.”

He also added that any place can become a scene of contagion, if safety measures are not taken, such as the use of a mask, keeping a distance of six feet and washing hands frequently.

Voters are also encouraged to exercise their right to vote and leave the schools without delay to avoid overexposure.

As of today, in Puerto Rico there are 453 hospitalized persons; Furthermore, we have 33,853 confirmed cases and 31,890 probable cases, and 820 people have lost their lives due to Covid-19.
