The Department of Housing (DV) announced that it will hold five public hearings as part of the required citizen participation in relation to the 8.3 billion in CDBG-MIT mitigation funds allocated to Puerto Rico by the Department of Housing and Urban Development of United States (HUD).
The first two public hearings will be on September 16 and 18, at 8:00 p.m., and will be broadcast live through WIPR channels 3 and 6, 940 AM radio, the Notiseis Facebook pages, the Facebook page of CDBG-DR and the CDBG-DR YouTube channel.
These two public hearings are scheduled to take place prior to the release of the CDBG-MIT Action Plan for public comment on September 21.
Following its publication, three additional public hearings will be held on dates to be announced shortly.
The Secretary of Housing, Luis Fernández Trinchet, indicated that “the holding of these public hearings through a television channel is an unprecedented effort and we want to consider and ensure the participation of all citizens that is an essential part of the development of the Action Plan for CDBG-MIT funds ”.
The funds are part of a rigorous research, planning and citizen participation process that will allow PRDOH to fully understand the needs and develop high-impact mitigation activities in order to avoid and prevent risks and losses from possible future disasters.
