San Juan – The Department of Housing (DV) reminded citizens that it will hold five public hearings as part of the required citizen participation in relation to the $ 8.3 billion in CDBG-MIT mitigation funds allocated to Puerto Rico by the Department of Housing and United States Urban Development (HUD).
The first public hearing will be held this Wednesday 16 and the second on Friday, September 18, 2020, at 8:00 pm
Both will be broadcast live on WIPR channels 3 and 6; 940 AM radio; the Facebook pages of Notiseis and CDBG-DR Puerto Rico; and the CDBG-DR YouTube channel.
These two public hearings are scheduled to take place prior to the release of the CDBG-MIT Action Plan for public comment on September 21, 2020.
After its publication, three additional public hearings will be held, on dates to be announced shortly.
The Secretary of Housing, Luis Fernández Trinchet indicated that, “the holding of these public hearings through a television channel is an unprecedented effort and we want to consider and ensure the participation of all citizens, which is an essential part of the development of the Action Plan. for CDBG-MIT funds ”.
These funds are part of a rigorous research, planning and citizen participation process that will allow the DV to fully understand the needs and develop high-impact mitigation activities in order to avoid and prevent risks and losses from possible future disasters.
In order to expand the reach to all citizens without limiting those who do not have access to the networks or who have some functional diversity, interested parties can submit their presentations, comments or questions by sending an email to CDBG-MIT @ housing .pr.gov; using the form to submit proposals, comments and questions that will be available the same day of transmission on the website www.cdbg-dr.pr.gov/cdbg-mit/.
To send comments or questions you can only call the telephone box 1-833-234-CDBG (2324), 787-522-5950 for TTY, and indicate that you want to submit a comment for the CDBG-MIT public hearings.
In addition, they can send their comments and questions by text messaging to the number that will be provided on the day of the broadcast.
Fernández Trinchet added that “together with Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced we call on all residents of Puerto Rico, non-profit organizations, governmental and non-governmental entities and other interest groups to share this announcement with their families, friends and neighbors. to participate in these important public hearings.
