The number of people hospitalized due to Covid-19 woke up to 450, a reduction of 12 compared to yesterday’s figure, according to the ‘dashboard’ of the Department of Health.
Of the total, 80 are in intensive care and 70 are connected to a fan. Now two minors are in intensive care. One of these has been hospitalized for several days.
To date, the country’s hospital system has 3,265 beds for adults, 252 intensive care beds and 826 ventilators. There are also 967 pediatric beds, 72 intensive care beds, and 143 pediatric ventilators.
From November 19 to December 13, a pattern of more than 600 hospitalized was reported. In that period, the record mark was set – at the moment – of 657 hospitalized since the pandemic began in March.
On December 14, a streak began with less than 600 hospitalized – except on the 16th – including 446 hospitalized on December 26, a number that had not been seen since November 1.
Health today reported 24 additional deaths from Covid-19, of which 19 were reported as confirmed. According to the daily report, one of these deaths occurred in October, nine occurred in November, and the other 14 occurred in December.
The total death toll from the virus now stands at 1,484. The Secretary of Health, Lorenzo González, had estimated that before the end of the year Puerto Rico would reach 1,500 deaths from Covid-19.
