Pay Increase of $8,750 to the Secretary of Health for a job well done

The secretary of the Department of Health, Lorenzo González Feliciano, will charge an additional $ 8,750 for his work during the month of July, increasing his salary this month to $ 29,750.

The increase responds to an amendment in his contract with the Authority of Financial Advisory and Fiscal Agency (Aafaf) granted on June 30, which provides that the amount will be effective only in July. April and lasted until last month. In this document, the Aafaf provides that the pay to the Health holder would not exceed $ 63,000. With the amendment, this amount increased to $ 92,750.

“For the services provided by the consultant from July 1, 2020, to July 31, 2020, the Authority will pay a fixed monthly fee of $ 29,750,” reads the contract on the page of the Office of the Comptroller.

The health secretary justified his salary in May when the contract for $21,000 per month was disclosed in the media. González Feliciano did not accept the salary established for the previous Secretary of Health.

According to Law 13 of 1989, the secretaries of public agencies must have an annual salary of $80,000, which would be $6,000 per month. The law also allows the governor to honor the original salary of the members of the cabinet if the minimum salary earned in their previous position is reduced.

“When one works 20 hours a day and converts it into hours $250,000, I divide it by around 7,000 hours I should be paid $45 per hour,” said the secretary at the time.
