Increase to 415 hospitalizations for coronavirus on the Island | government

The digital information board of the Department of Health (DS) reported today 415 hospitalizations for Covid-19 on the Island.

Of the 415 people hospitalized, there are 49 patients in intensive care and 31 with ventilators. No pediatric patient is hospitalized by the virus.

While, to date, there are 2,486 adult beds available in the country’s hospitals and 923 pediatric beds.

Health has been reporting record numbers of hospitalizations for more than a week, although the head of that agency, Lorenzo González Feliciano, has reiterated that it is not yet time to take action to prevent a possible collapse in the health system.

Between Tuesday and Saturday of last week, five consecutive days of record numbers, with 206 hospitalizations on Tuesday, 254 on Wednesday, 280 on Thursday, 302 on Friday, and 316 on Saturday. Prior to these figures, the highest was 201 reported on April 30.

Today, the DS reported that confirmed cases amounted to 4,330 and probable cases to 8,708. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 185.
