
Storm Isaias could gain strength and become a hurricane on Saturday en route to the Bahamas.
According to the latest bulletin from the National Hurricane Center (CNH) in Miami, the system is currently over the Republic Dominican with winds of 60 miles per hour. It is moving northwest at a rate of 20 miles per hour.
The CNH projects that by Saturday afternoon Isaias will gather strength and become a hurricane in the Bahamas area.
The agency predicts that the system will head for the east coast of the United States and could hit North and South Carolina.
