As executive VP, chief Strategy and Healthcare Delivery officer
SAN JUAN – Roberto García, president and CEO of Puerto Rico-based Triple-S Management Corp., has named Juan Serrano as executive vice president and chief Strategy and Healthcare Delivery officer, a new position within the insurance holding company.
Triple-S offers managed care and related commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid products under the Blue Cross Blue Shield marks. It also provides life and property and casualty insurance in Puerto Rico.
The company said Serrano is a well-known leader within the industry who has “broad multi-sectorial experience” in the health plan, care delivery and risk management fields across the Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and commercial segments.
“We are pleased Juan has joined the Triple-S team to help us advance our vision toward a patient-centered model of care focused on quality outcomes, in partnership with our providers,” said García.
Serrano's career spans more than three decades in the health insurance and delivery sector. He most recently advised in the early-stage innovation space, focusing on health optimization for high-risk, high-cost and vulnerable populations. Previously, Serrano was president and CEO of Munich Health North America, a U.S. health reinsurer. He also served as senior vice president at Catholic Health Initiatives and network executive for WellCare Health Plans.
“For 17 years, between 1991 and 2008, Serrano worked for United Health Group in various positions of increasing responsibility, including his appointment as General Manager of Southern Healthcare JV, a joint venture based in Johannesburg, South Africa,” the press release reads, adding that he earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor University with a major in business administration.
