The Department of Justice filed today a lawsuit in the San Juan Court of First Instance against the Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC) – based in Texas – and its chief executive Ronald Trente, for nullity and improper collection related to the armored bus that acquired in 2018 under the administration of former Governor Ricardo Rosselló.
The Rosselló administration disbursed the entire $ 224,100 for the purchase of a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban model that was never delivered to the government of Puerto Rico. The General Services Administration (ASG), the Department of Public Security (DSP) and La Fortaleza were involved in the purchase process.
“It is a transaction that we understand is void and that the money that was paid for a bus that was never delivered is due. February 26 of this year marked three years since the bus was acquired and today less than two months since this official assumed the position of Justice, and one month after receiving a referral from the ASG for the purchase of the bus. guagua, a legal action has been presented by the Department of Justice ”, expressed the designated Secretary of Justice, Domingo Emanuelli in a press conference.
As part of the lawsuit, Justice requested the cancellation of the purchase contract for not complying with the legal requirements of government contracting and that TAC return the amount of $ 224,100, in addition to the interests, costs and legal expenses assumed for the purchase of the vehicle. Likewise, the lawsuit seeks the nullity of the forum selection, so that it is aired in Puerto Rico and not in Texas, the company’s headquarters.
“They tried to scam Puerto Rico with the purchase of this bus and we are not going to allow it,” said Emanuelli.
