La Guancha merchants could operate from January

The Municipal Administration of Ponce reported today that it met with the representatives of the La Guancha merchants to announce that in the month of January could start operating with the proper safety and health measures by the coronavirus.

In addition, it was explained to the merchants that the jobs to locate the wagons in front of the Sonora Ponceña platform require going to a formal auction, since the estimated construction costs for the area exceed $ 450,000.

Once the auction process passes, which will come out in the next few weeks, the works must be completed in 60 working days.

“La Guancha merchants are an essential part of the process of reconstruction of this recreational and cultural complex which is an icon of our city of Ponce and that is why we keep you informed about all the processes that are being carried out or will be carried out in the place ”, Lourdes Gómez, administrator of the municipality, expressed in written statements.

Among the tasks that must be carried out in the area include the installation of a manhole, incorporation of all wagons connected to two-inch pipes, the construction of a sanitary system for the bathrooms, water supply lines for the wagons, construction of electrical distribution lines, in addition to the installation of four poles with lights led.

In addition, two electrical rooms will be built, a seven-foot-high concrete outlet with electrical outlets in the artisan area, a concrete floor for table placement, 15 stories in a triangular shape and 11 stories in a rectangular shape with reinforcing steel, and four-inch gravel will be purchased for an area of ​​87,000 square feet.

It was indicated that the works entail the payment of taxes, patents and insurance.

The total reconstruction of La Guancha is scheduled to begin in early 2021 with an investment of $ 10,627,019.33.
