San Juan – The governor-elect, Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia and the governor Wanda Vázquez Garced participated on Monday in the first public hearing of the Transition Committees.

Regarding priority issues, Pierluisi Urrutia stressed that “there is the issue of COVID, the governor has just issued an Executive Order and that is the first thing that comes to mind. Be sure that we are familiar with the situation ”.

“COVID does not only impact the health of our people, it impacts the economy and the education of our children,” he added.

He included the status of reconstruction projects, fiscal issues, and the budget as other areas of particular interest.

To questions about which projects the governor would like to remain in the Pierluisi Urrutia administration, Vázquez Garced replied that “there are many legacies, but mainly, the allocations of (federal) funds that were obtained from FEMA (Federal Agency for the Management of Emergencies) for (rebuilding) the electrical system. The allocations that were achieved for the restructuring of the entire education system and the one that is being worked on with the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA). Also, everything that has been achieved in the fiscal area ”.

The governor assured that all the information was provided to the Transition Committee.

On the first day of public hearings, the Department of the Treasury, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Puerto Rico Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority appeared.
