A massive power outage was reported Friday morning in the upper part of Manhattan, knocking out not only lights but also cellphone service.
A Con Edison spokesperson tells NBC News it is investigating the widespread outages across Harlem, Central Park and Lenox Hill. It was pitch black as far as eyes could see along Broadway at 73rd Street going north.
Power came back on after around 20 minutes but many subway lines are delayed and Metro-North is now saying 10-15 minute delays in and out of Grand Central because of the outage.
There are delays and multiple impacts to 1, 2 and 3 service because of a loss of power in Manhattan, the MTA said. Some 2 trains will run on the 5 line between 149 St – Grand Concourse to Nevins Street.
