Mayor of Orocovis confirms COVID-19 outbreak

San Juan – The mayor of Orocovis, Edgardo “Gardy” Colón, confirmed on Tuesday, an outbreak of COVID-19 in his municipality.

“The reality is that we have identified some infections, all related to each other, and this left the balance of 20 or 25 infections from the same source that, in turn, have led several to the hospital. Some of them are delicate, others are less delicate, but they are all being treated, ”Colón said in a radio interview. (Information Network)

“What we have detected through the contact tracing of the municipality, they were all infected from the same source, it was from activities. There are many people with excess confidence and they take off their masks and that is why it has happened ”, he added.

He mentioned that it was not a party, but mentioned that these people shared in one place and later went home.

“They are being tracked through our tracking system and they have been ordered to remain in quarantine,” the mayor said.

“My call is for those who were involved to be tested,” he said.

He insisted on avoiding family activities and gatherings, since the majority of the population has not yet been vaccinated.

On the other hand, he mentioned that he will send officials to advise those who are detected in crowds and violations of the executive order, although he said that they cannot fine, however, the Health Department will inform their findings.
