Ortiz Velázquez said he will undergo the test to detect the virus and that He will continue to direct the municipal works by telephone and cybernetic means from his home, until the quarantine ends.
“May this situation serve as an example for all of us to be more strict and disciplined in handling the pandemic. Together we are going to defeat COVID-19, let us be sure. Let us remember that what the Governor proposes is a guide for managing the pandemic and each citizen has to be disciplined, take care of himself and his family. With the example of yesterday the magnitude of this crisis is demonstrated. It is a good time to reflect and be more strict with the protocols "he said.
For his part, the mayor of Caguas explained that on Friday of last week he attended a graduation in which he shared with Varela. The activity was outdoors.
Miranda Torres stressed that the test to detect the virus has already been carried out and that it will remain isolated until the result is received.
“Last Friday I shared with the representative Varela at an open-air graduation and where due measures of social distancing and the use of masks were observed. However, today I learned of the positive result for the virus from the representative Varela, to whom I wish a speedy and satisfactory recovery. I will be in isolation as the measures dictate in a case like this, "said the mayor in written statements.
He explained that, so far, he has had no symptoms that indicate that he was infected.
Still, he noted that “ I will remain isolated until I meet the established quarantine term for this virus and await the results of the tests I did today. I urge anyone who is in a similar situation to isolate themselves and take the appropriate tests "said Miranda Torres.
