The Fiscal Control Board proposed today to temporarily expand Medicaid coverage to more than 200 thousand residents on the Island.
This was announced by the executive director of the Authority for Financial Advisory and Fiscal Agency (Aafaf), Omar Marrero Díaz.
“After numerous meetings urging the board for an egalitarian health system with the increase in federal funds designated to the Puerto Rico Medicaid program, finally the federal entity proposed to temporarily expand Medicaid coverage to more than 200 thousand residents in Puerto Rico” , said the official.
According to Marrero Díaz, the decision “puts aside the uncertainty that thousands of Puerto Rican families were going through when these federal funds were at risk.”
“We favor the board’s proposal and will collaborate to allow this temporary expansion in a fiscally responsible and effective manner. Said determination reflects the disposition of our administration and the ability to work in good faith, looking out for the best interests of the people of Puerto Rico, ”he said.
