The municipal administration of Mayagüez has been coordinating for days with senior officials of the Puerto Rico National Guard the start of vaccination against Covid-19 in this city, which will also cover residents of neighboring towns and which is scheduled to begin in the middle of next month. .
On those dates, the Covid-19 Vaccination Center in Mayagüez would begin to operate once the National Guard, determine if it will be operating from the Isidoro García stadium facilities or at the Recreation and Sports Palace in this city.
The mayor, José Guillermo Rodríguez, led a meeting with the city administrator, Reinaldo Torres, the epidemiologist Yadira Guilloty and senior officials of the National Guard, who are in charge of the vaccination process in which a series of agreements was advanced.
It is expected that in the next few days they will travel to Mayagüez to visit both facilities and determine if they meet the requirements, although in a recent radio interview, Mayor Rodríguez and the adjutant general of the National Guard, José Reyes, agreed that they could favor the Isidoro Garcia.
This is due to the successful mass vaccination process against influenza that was carried out several weeks ago through the shuttle service at those facilities.
As General Reyes explained, vaccination began in other regions because Mayagüez and Aguadilla, according to the study carried out, are not among the highest incidences of reported cases.
