The new school year has already started and the Department of Education has about 389 unfilled teacher positions, according to data provided to Metro Puerto Rico by the Auxiliary Secretary of Human Resources.
According to the statements, most of the vacancies are in disciplines that are difficult to recruit, such as English as a second language, Sciences, Special Education, among others.
According to Education, the Human Resources staff continue to publish daily job advertisements to fill vacancies.
Virtual classes began on August 17 with all the challenges that this entails. Recently, the secretary Eligio Hernández announced that they published a list with the contacts and emails of all the schools so that parents and guardians could ask questions about this situation.
