New Mayor of San Germán invites reflection and solidarity this Christmas

SAN GERMÁNThe new mayor of the Municipality of San Germán, Virgilio Olivera Olivera, invited -this morning- the people of Puerto Rico to reflect and be much more supportive this Christmas.

“Without a doubt, daily life drastically changed us, at the beginning of this year 2020, after the surprise arrival of the coronavirus (COVID-19) to our beloved Island of Enchantment,” emphasized the newly elected First Municipal Executive of this city council of the southwest of Puerto Rico.

“This Thursday, ‘Christmas Day’, let us unite in prayer, as a people and family, and thank God infinitely for the most valuable and precious gift: that of life … Let us think that this year, which is about to to finish has been extremely difficult for each of us. Because while it is true that we have suffered like never before, it has also been true that we have seen how life has gotten out of hand, in seconds, to people we have met, “he said.

Olivera Olivera highlighted that “according to official statistics from the Department of Health (DS), at present, 1,391 brothers, in Puerto Rico, have unfortunately already lost the battle against COVID-19. On the other hand, there are more than 66 thousand confirmed cases, more than 3,840 probable cases and more than 50,780 suspected cases ”.

“On the other hand, we have no doubt that COVID-19 has led us to unite, much more, as brothers and has made us more sensitive and empathic with the pain of others … This Thursday, let us raise a prayer for those who already They are not with us and they live permanently in our hearts, for those who are battling in the different hospitals of the country and, of course, for their relatives … Let’s provoke the ‘Pandemic of Love’ ”, he said.

The new president of the Municipality of San Germán pointed out that “prayer and love are the medicine par excellence… May the birth of the Child Jesus, in the Bethlehem of our heart, represent our collective resurgence. Let’s make this Christmas a very different one and put our ears in the heartbeat of those who suffer ”.
