San Juan – Brigades from the San Juan area of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) will carry out repair work on a 6 ”diameter valve, located on Labra Street, Las Palmas intersection in San Juan, during the night of today, reported Roberto W. Martínez Toledo, executive director of the Metropolitan Region.

“In the afternoon today, our personnel were notified about the leak and they mobilized to the place. At the moment preparations and operations are being carried out in the system to control the flow of water in the area ”, explained the official.

On the other hand, Martínez Toledo added that the sectors that could experience from low pressure to interruption of the drinking water service, while the works are being carried out are: residents of Old San Juan, Miramar, Condado, Isla Verde and Santurce.

“The closure of the distribution system will take place at 10 pm on Monday. It is expected that, if there are no problems, the repair work will be completed and the recovery of the system will begin in the early morning of Tuesday morning, ”said Martínez Toledo.

Given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, the AAA recommends that the affected sectors boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
