This is how Piñero Avenue looked around 3:00 in the afternoon on September 9, 2020.

The effects of rain are already being seen in the metropolitan area after the National Meteorological Service in San Juan issued a warning of urban and stream floods for different municipalities in Puerto Rico.

At least the section of Avenida Jesús Piñero that is located between the Baldrich and University Gardens communities is under water, forcing passersby to take alternate routes.

Traffic, as expected, has been affected.

Among the municipalities under flood warning are San Juan, Cataño, Toa Baja and Trujillo Alto, and the warning will remain active until 4:15 in the afternoon.

According to the warning, it is expected that between 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall for these areas, in addition to those that have already fallen due to the thunderstorms reported by Doppler radar.
