Pedro Pierluisi – Dennis A. Jones

Governor Pedro Pierluisi spoke this afternoon about what happened during the second meeting of the Fiscal Control Board (JCF) in which he participates. As he said, it was a “productive” and in which he returned “to establish the priorities of the government.”

According to Pierluisi, the four core issues that he is discussing with the JCF are his “opposition to cuts in pensions, municipalities and the UPR, and the necessary investment in the public service.”

The governor added that they discussed the mediation process “which is confidential and I reiterated that the only way that I am going to support a debt adjustment plan is for the payment to be one that is manageable from a fiscal point of view, that it is an amount of debt that we can pay and that we are not going to default. “

Finally, he said that he had told the JCF that “due to the public hearing next Friday,” a short extension was requested to submit the budget request until Tuesday, February 2.
