CATAÑO – The governor-elect, Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia disagreed on Saturday with the expressions of the president of the State Elections Commission, Francisco Rosado Colomer that possibly for January 2 there will still not be an official certification of the electoral result.

“I don’t think… that scenario is not a real scenario. The scrutiny has to end. Enough of procrastination. The people deserve the general scrutiny. Precisely the purpose of the scrutiny is to reconcile what remains to be reconciled, to count what remains to be counted and to reach a final count for each of the contests that we had in the last elections. And in the elections where there was a closed result, the recount is made ”, said Pierluisi Urrutia to questions from the press.

“It is in the scrutiny that all this is done, that the scrutiny has just been carried out and they stop putting off the issue. I know that there are some cases before the Courts but I am confident that the Court will see what is happening here is that some want to postpone the inevitable, “he added.

According to Pierluisi Urrutia, if the general scrutiny begins, it must conclude in 15 working days.

“If they do what they have to do, surely this ends in mid-December as it should be, enough already,” he said.

According to the governor-elect, at the time that recommendations for amendments to the Electoral Law are presented, they will do so with elected minority legislators.

“I am going to have a good relationship with the entire legislative leadership with all the parties, I am going to meet regularly with them, that is my way of being anyway. I am very positive for the future, what I hope is that we all have the political maturity so that this shared government gives results, “he said.

Pierluisi Urrutia’s expressions were given upon his arrival at the Cataño Convention Center, where he cast his vote in the process to choose the leadership of that community in Puerto Rico.
