Pierluisi would not cancel the contract with LUMA, he would modify it


San Juan – The candidate for governor for the New Progressive Party (PNP), Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia said on Monday that he will not cancel LUMA Energy’s contract with the Electric Power Authority (PREPA), but that he would modify it.

“What the people of Puerto Rico need is reliable electricity at a reasonable cost. It’s easy to make vague promises that our people won’t get what they need. We cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. PREPA must be reformed through a Public Private Alliance (PPP) so that it serves our people well, ”Pierluisi Urrutia said in a written communication.

“Instead of talking about the cancellation of a contract, with the implications that this has for the business environment and the good name of Puerto Rico, what you have to do is identify the areas in which that contract has to be modified. ”He added.
