Pierluisi’s inauguration will be “primarily virtual” in the face of Covid-19

SAN JUAN – Caridad Pierluisi, campaign director for the governor-elect of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierluisi, assured that the inauguration of the incoming chief executive will be “a primarily virtual activity” as health security against covid-19.

“We want everyone to be part of the inauguration of Governor pedropierluisi on January 2. Because of COVID-19, it will be a primarily virtual activity, ”said Caridad Pierluisi in a tweet.

In turn, he said that the objective of the event “is that the people can witness the activity from the safety of their homes. His message will mark a new beginning of hope for all ”.

According to the general scrutiny updated this Sunday and according to 72.8% of the schools reported, Pedro Pierluisi, from the New Progressive Party, dominates the governor’s race of Puerto Rico with 303,030 or 31.8% of the total votes.

Following Pierluisi is Charlie Delgado, from the Popular Democratic Party, with 289,414 votes or 30.3% of them.

Regarding Covid-19, the Puerto Rico Department of Health reported 13 additional deaths and 736 confirmed cases of the virus this Sunday, while hospitalizations decreased to 445.

With these additional deaths, the confirmed deaths total 1,196 and the probable ones are 249, making the total number of deaths 1,445.

Of the reported deaths, nine were classified as confirmed, and they are divided into seven men and two women.

The ages of the deceased fluctuate between 42 and 86 years with residence in the Metro, Bayamón, Caguas, Fajardo and Arecibo regions.

The deceased were 52 and 69 years old, and lived in the Metro and Caguas region, respectively.

In addition, four deaths classified as probable were reported, of two men, one 51 and the other 82 years old, and two women, one 60 and the other 77 years old.

Both men were from the Fajardo region, while the 60-year-old female was from the Bayamón region and the second from Arecibo.

Hospitalizations, meanwhile, decreased to 445 (451), but those admitted to intensive surveillance increased to 88 (82), including a pediatric hospital.

Similarly, connected adults increased to 85 (82).

Meanwhile, with the 736 cases confirmed by covid-19, the total rises to 69,265, of which 37,267 are women and 31,998 are men.
