The Commissioner of the Police Bureau, Henry Escalera Rivera, mourned the death of the young son of two Uniformed officers due to COVID-19.

“It is with great regret that we received the news that the son of two companions passed away after battling COVID-19. At his young age, this young man fought for his life with courage. We join the pain that overwhelms his parents, both members of the Police Bureau, as well as his brothers, friends and other family members. We join in prayer for the rest of his soul and strength for his loved ones. On behalf of all the members of the Police Bureau we send a solidarity hug to the family. May he rest in peace, “said the official.

The Health Department confirmed early this afternoon that the minor died Thursday night after spending about a month in the intensive care area and with a ventilator in a hospital institution.

Escalera previously reported that to date, 110 agents have reported positive results for COVID-19, according to the tests ordered and certified by Dr. María Del Carmen Calderón.

Likewise, 658 agents are isolated as a preventive measure. He indicated that since the emergency arose, 4548 agents have rejoined their work.
