The Bank Robbery Division of the Puerto Rico Police reported that 53 people have already been arrested for fraud to the Pandemic Unemployment Program (PUA, for its acronym in English).
Likewise, the amount of money recovered amounts to $ 284,498.00. The most recent arrest occurred on August 29.
However, at the request of prosecutors from the Department of Justice, the Police no longer offer details of how the arrests took place, this due to the investigations that are still ongoing.

The first arrests took place in banking institutions where people were preparing to cash checks for the unemployment program. They have used false identifications as well as identity theft to receive the federal money.
