Positive cases and hospitalizations for COVID-19 continue to increase on the island


The Puerto Rico Health Department reported today the increase in coronavirus cases on the Island, as well as the increase in hospitalizations and the death of two people.

According to the hospital capacity data, there are 367 hospitalized adults, 73 in the intensive unit; and 32 pediatric hospitalizations, one in intensive pediatric.

Of the additional COVID-19 cases on the island, 678 are confirmed cases, 426 are probable cases, and 773 are suspected cases.

Confirmed cases are cases with a positive molecular test (RT-PCR). The number of additional confirmed cases since the last report does not imply that these cases correspond to the last 24 hours. The total includes cases with samples taken from March 26, 2021 to April 9, 2021.

Probable cases are cases with a positive antigen test.

Suspected cases are cases with a positive serological test.
