Dozens of protesters gathered this afternoon around the Fortress for, for the second consecutive day, to express their repudiation to the Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced and demand her resignation.
This new round of The protests arose after another scandal that shakes the president, this time after she demanded the resignation of whoever was the secretary of Justice, Dennise Longo Quiñones after learning that she would refer to the Office of the Prosecutor's Panel Special Independent (OPFEI) against her and other officials, for the mismanagement of supplies after the earthquakes in the southwest.
Although it was not a large group, it was loud enough to make them feel and remember the days protests last summer, which eventually culminated with the resignation of the then Governor Ricardo Rosselló.
“Someone said that we were four cats. I don't know if he wanted to make fun of me. But I remind you that it was four cats that started the protests that ended with (ex-Governor Ricardo) Rosselló. And as long as there are four cats fighting for Puerto Rico and saying 'I am Puerto Rican, so you know', there is a homeland, "said one protester.
The protest coincided with the 60th birthday of the governor and one protester, the young woman Gianna Del Mastro took the opportunity to bring him a cake with the dedication of "Wanda Renuncia."
He stated that, as he did last year against Rosselló, he was there to protest against corruption and abuse of power.
As part of the protest, the group sang to the governor the popular theme of celebrating anniversaries, but in a version in which they wished the president an “unhappy birthday.”
As part of the demonstration, there was a table with sanitary articles so that the participants could protect themselves as much as possible from the COVID-19, in addition to the masks they were wearing.
