SAN JUAN – The Department of Housing (DV) reminded the public that public hearings continue as part of the required citizen participation in relation to the 8.3 billion dollars in CDBG-MIT mitigation funds assigned to Puerto Rico by the Department of Housing and United States Urban Development (HUD).
On Wednesday, October 14 and Friday, October 16, 2020, at 8:00 p.m., the third and fifth public view will be broadcast live on WIPR channels 3 and 6; 940 AM radio; the Facebook pages of Notiseis and CDBG-DR Puerto Rico; and the CDBG-DR YouTube channel.
The CDBG-MIT Action Plan for public comment was published on September 21, 2020.
For his part, the Secretary of Housing, Luis Fernández Trinchet indicated in a written communication that, “the holding of these public hearings through a television channel is an unprecedented effort and we want to consider and ensure the participation of all citizens who are part essential of the development of the Action Plan for CDBG-MIT funds ”.
These funds are part of a rigorous research, planning and citizen participation process that will allow the DV to fully understand the needs and develop high-impact mitigation activities in order to avoid and prevent risks and losses from possible future disasters.
In order to expand the scope to all citizens without limiting those who do not have access to the networks or who have some functional diversity, interested parties can submit their presentations, comments or questions by sending an email to [email protected]; using the form to submit proposals, comments and questions that will be available the same day of transmission on the website www.cdbg-dr.pr.gov/cdbg-mit/.

Fernández Trinchet added that “together with Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced we make a call for all residents of Puerto Rico, non-profit organizations, governmental and non-governmental entities, and other interest groups to share this announcement with their families, friends and neighbors. to participate in these important public hearings. Everyone’s opinion counts ”.
