In order to avoid tragedies, the Public Housing Administration (AVP) stressed the importance of enjoying with the family during the farewell to the year, without the need to shoot into the air.
“Although this message has permeated our citizens and fortunately no fatalities have occurred in the past years, it is necessary to raise awareness, because the families of our communities deserve peace and prevent unscrupulous people from shooting into the air without thinking about the consequences that this cowardly act could have. leave, ”said the administrator of Public Housing, William Rodríguez Rodríguez.
As part of the activities promoted by the AVP aimed at raising awareness about the danger of this practice and the adverse consequences it entails, the March for Peace and No More Bullets in the Air was held this Tuesday, the second to be held this year.
This initiative was born in 2004, after the death of Jessica Pacheco, under nine years of age due to a stray bullet in the Juan C. Cordero Dávila Residential.
In that sense, the AVP carries out an awareness campaign in which a rehearsal for the farewell of the year is invited tonight, at 8:00, which several personalities have joined, such as Ada Monzón and Suzzette Bacó, in the that invite citizens to carry out a virtual party without bullets in the air.
“We have created this initiative as one more effort to claim peace and raise awareness about avoiding shots in the air. We call on everyone to join us in this great farewell rehearsal of the year and have your instruments ready to make a lot of noise at 8:00 pm. It is possible to have a great celebration without the need for shots ”, urged the administrator.
Rodríguez Rodríguez explained that “for more than 15 years public housing has promoted the March for Peace. This year we celebrated it in a different and silent way last Tuesday, December 1, at the Manuel A. Pérez residential complex, where we had the opportunity to reclaim hope and life ”.
