Puerto Rico was chosen among the top five favorite islands in the Caribbean and the Atlantic by travelers from both areas, according to the annual Readers’ Choice Awards from the specialized tourism magazine “Condé Nast Traveler”, published this Tuesday.
The territory selections were made by more than 715,000 “Condé Nast Traveler” readers who submitted responses rating their travel experiences around the world, said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico, in a press release, the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO).
“Given that the tourism sector is one of the economic segments most affected by the global pandemic, being chosen by the Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards is an honor and shows the opportunity that exists to expand the island’s various offerings for future visitors. Dean said.
Dean, in turn, assured that the DMO has “the intention of leading the recovery of the tourism industry and Puerto Rico and helping restore the many jobs that have been lost, as well as supporting many of the small and medium-sized companies that they have been more affected by COVID-19 ”.
“In Puerto Rico, we have a lot to offer, and tourists will not only experience an incredible vacation, but will know that their trip is impacting the lives of the people of Puerto Rico,” he said.
For his part, Condé Nast Traveler’s editor in the United States, Jesse Ashlock, added in the statement that “the results of this year’s survey, conducted at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, are a testament to the enduring power of a meaningful travel experience ”.
“The winners represent the best of the best to our audience and offer a lot of travel planning inspiration for all the adventures we look forward to coming up with,” he acknowledged.
The full list of winners will be included in the November print edition for the United States and United Kingdom.
