Ready Salud to qualify new beneficiaries in Plan Vital after increase in income scale

Under this new scenario, citizens who previously did not qualify for income, could be eligible to receive the benefit temporarily, until September 30, 2021.

SAN JUAN – The Department of Health informed this Tuesday that it is ready to qualify citizens who apply for the benefits of the Government Plan-Vital Plan, after receiving authorization from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS for its acronym in English), in order to increase the income scale of the participants.

Under this new scenario, citizens who previously did not qualify for income, could be eligible to receive the benefit temporarily, until September 30, 2021.

This was assured by the Secretary of the Department of Health, Lorenzo González Feliciano, in written communication, by anticipating that he will send letters to the people who requested the help and were ineligible due to income, so that they can apply again under the new scale.

“This is excellent news. We are ready to receive the application from those citizens who do not yet have a medical plan and who can now qualify for their income. Health is a right that we all have and having a plan for its citizens should be a priority for any government. Now, with these new income scales, many people will be able to go to their doctor, buy their medicines and take care of themselves in a preventive way, as it should be ”, said the head, who thanked Natalie Jaresko, executive director of the Fiscal Control Board , who was key to achieving such an important benefit for Puerto Rico.

For her part, the director of Medicaid in Puerto Rico, Luz Cruz Romero, added that in addition to the income scale, the CMS also authorized an increase in the CHIP income level, so now the table is as follows:

People in the Family Nucleus, Monthly Medicaid Income and CHIP Income Level

1 person – $ 1,202 to $ 2,404

2 people – $ 1,604 $ 2,626

3 people – $ 2,046 to $ 2,848

4 people – $ 2,468 to $ 3,070

5 people – $ 2,890 to $ 3,292

6 people – $ 3,312 to $ 3,514

7 people – $ 3,734 to $ 3,736

8 people – $ 4,156 to $ 3,958

9 people – $ 4,579 to $ 4,180

10 people – $ 5,001 to $ 4,402

11 people – $ 5,423 to $ 4,624

12 people – $ 5,845 to $ 4,846

13 people – $ 6,267 to $ 5,068

14 people – $ 6,689 to $ 5,290

15 people – $ 7,111 to $ 5,512

“This income is net. Depending on the family composition and socioeconomic situation, you could apply discounts. For this reason, we urge citizens -family nucleus- who have experienced a reduction in their income, whether due to job loss, reduction of work hours or some other situation, to request the benefits of the Vital Plan, since they could be eligible, ”urged Cruz Romero.

He also emphasized that, in the case of a family with children, these, even if the parents were not eligible, they could be, since under the CHIP Program, the level of income to qualify is even higher.

To apply for Vital Plan benefits, they must access the website: www.medicaid.pr.gov and fill out the application. If you do not have access to the internet, or need assistance to fill out the application, you can contact the center from Monday to Friday from 8:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the afternoon at 787 641-4224 or TTY (787) 625 -6955.

“We want citizens to take advantage of this opportunity. It is important that you know that if there is a need to contact you to clarify any information provided in the application or need any additional information, an employee of the Medicaid Program will be calling you at the phone number you provided in the application and the employee’s phone number it could be reflected as a private number on yours. It is also important that, once the application is submitted online, you are aware of your email, since they could also contact you by this means. You must check the mailbox for ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ since the email could receive it there ”, concluded Cruz Romero.
