Retirees call for a march for Sunday | government

The Chapter of Retirees and Retirees of the Federation of Teachers of Puerto Rico summoned candidates for elective positions to support the legislative proposal that seeks to impose a cessation of cuts to the pension program and creates a Unified Retirement System. [19659002] At a press conference in front of La Fortaleza today, Pedro Pastrana Ortiz, spokesman for the chapter, explained that the project (PC 2434) was approved in both bodies, but then they included an amendment and the measure did not pass the legislative sieve before that the session will end on June 30. The expectation is that the project will now be included in an extraordinary session.

"Those who aspire to represent citizens in different elective positions should know that we are almost 300,000 people, among active and retired people, who, together with our families, we need our pensions to be protected, "said Pastrana Ortiz.

The group called a march for this Sunday starting at 11:00 am leaving from Plaza Colón in Old San Juan to La Fortaleza.

The claim was joined by Eladio Neris Mulero, president of the Police Veterans Association, who called on active and retired police officers to join the march .
