RUM band participates in virtual parade of Biden’s presidential inauguration

A delegation from the Centennial Collegiate Band of the Mayagüez University Campus (RUM) will represent the Island at the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, in the virtual event Parade Across America, which will celebrate the occasion with a display of the talent and diversity of ambassadors from all states and their territories.

The Colegial Band will appear in a video that was previously recorded, in conjunction with the Puerto Rican groups Puerto Rico Royalty Winterguard, the Second Macaná Unit Band of Guayanilla and Latin Power Dance & Arts de Yauco, with his interpretation of salsa classics Timpanist and Aguanile.

The parade will be broadcast today at 4:15 p.m., Puerto Rico time, and can be viewed through the website bideninaugural.org/watch.

“It is an honor that we have been invited to be part of this event and we are proud to represent the country among so many excellent bands in Puerto Rico and the United States. Already at the beginning of the year 2020, we managed to participate in the Parada de las Rosas in Pasadena, which was a dream come true and, once again, we are ambassadors in an event of such prestige and relevance. It fills me with immense satisfaction to see the excellent performance of my students ”, expressed in written statements Professor Lester Pérez Flores, director of the band.

The students and musicians Pedro A. Vega Casiano, Wilnelis E. Deglans Vélez, Pamela García Colón, Walfreddy Castillo Ulloa, Adriana López, Giancarlo García Alvarado, Janami Ramos, Valeria Santana, Christopher J. participated from the Mayaguez campus of the University of Puerto Rico. Serrano and Jan Angelo Marrero Báez. The standard bearers were Yarielys Rodríguez, Joyce Sander and Norelys Paola Martin.
