Second Degree Murder charges filed in Ponce


PONCE – On January 15, 2021, at the Ponce Area Command, a charge was filed for the crime of Murder in the 2nd Degree against Javier J. Bustillo González, 62, a resident of Ponce.

According to information received yesterday, January 16, 2021, by Captain Joel González, Director of the Ponce Criminal Investigations Corps, on January 15, 2021, Prosecutor Alberto Flores of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Ponce, together with agent Héctor Cappas Mateo of the Ponce Homicide Division, filed a charge for the crime of Murder in the 2nd degree, this against Mr. Javier Bustillo, for events that occurred on January 17, 2020, in Paseo Lineal entre la Iglesia la Milagrosa and canalization of the Portugues river in Ponce, where the accused using a motor vehicle, Dodge, model RAM, black color and hit Juan C. Ramírez Colón, which resulted in severe bodily trauma, resulting in confinement and later dying.

This case was presented before Judge Ángel Candelario Cáliz, who after evaluating the evidence presented, determined no cause for the arrest of Bustillo González, and he was released.

An indictment is only an indictment and is not evidence of guilt. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
