Secretary of Housing receives award for Public Servant of the Year


The Public Servant of the Year award is given to an official who has done extraordinary work in favor of the construction and housing industry, and the economic development of the Island.

SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Builders Association (ACPR) recognized the Secretary of the Housing Department (DV), Luis Fernández Trinchet, with the Public Servant of the Year award at its 47th Annual Convention, it was reported this Monday.

“In assuming the task of serving Puerto Rico, I did so with detachment and with the faithful commitment to contribute to improve the quality of life of all Puerto Ricans. I thank the Builders Association for this recognition, which beyond recognizing the work we have done, reaffirms that we are heading in the right direction so that all Puerto Ricans enjoy a safe, dignified and affordable home, ”Fernández Trinchet said in a written statement.

The Public Servant of the Year award is given to an official who has done extraordinary work in favor of the construction and housing industry, and the economic development of the Island.

Fernández Trinchet has held the position of Secretary of the Housing Department since last January. He also served as executive director of the Housing Finance Administration (AFV) and chaired the Economic Development Bank (BDE).

The official has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) and a master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance, business environment and public policy from the University of Rochester, in New York.

He obtained a Juris Doctor from the UPR and is an Authorized Financial Analyst by the CFA Institute.

The ACPR brings together developers, investors, associate members, and professionals related to development and construction in Puerto Rico. It is a non-profit organization that represents leading developers of housing, commercial and office, industrial and tourism projects.
