THE CAPITOL – The Senate confirmed on Friday night 11 nominees for Governor Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia.
In the first instance, Manuel Cidre Miranda was confirmed as Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC). Cidre Miranda obtained the vote against the delegation of the Citizen Victory Movement and the senator of the Puerto Rican Independence Party, María de Lourdes Santiago.
In turn, the Upper House granted its advice and consent to William Rodríguez-Rodríguez, nominated as secretary of the Housing Department, and to Alejandro Salgado Colón as Public Housing Administrator.
The appointment of Carlos Mercado as director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company also received the endorsement of the senators present.
The appointment of Miguel Hernández Sanabria for a new term as Property Registrar was also considered; Carlos Pérez Rodríguez, as Family Attorney, María del Carmen Berríos, as Family Attorney and Dr. Sara López as a member of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Administration.
