The Senate of Puerto Rico during an extraordinary session. – Dennis Jones / Metro

The Senate approved this Saturday in a final partial vote that the Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience of Puerto Rico (COR3) be the public entity responsible for coordinating and managing all federal grant programs related to emergencies and disasters.

After the passage of hurricanes Irma and María in 2017, COR3 was established through Executive Order 2017-065 as a division of the Public Private Partnerships Authority (APP).

“By giving way to Senate Bill 1695 of Administration and without amendments, ensures that funds are not lost and maintain the trust of the federal government, so for this it has to have a plan in close collaboration with the federal government, municipalities and communities “, reads the statement of press.

The legislative piece had the endorsement of the Majority senators.
