September 25: World Pharmacist Day

Every September 25 is celebrated the World Pharmacist Day established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP, for its acronym in English) since 2009.

The objective of this celebration is to promote and support the role of these professionals in the prevention of diseases, health promotion and monitoring of treatments worldwide.

On this occasion the IFJ has chosen the motto Transforming global health With which we want to highlight everything that the pharmaceutical profession does to contribute in an integral way to the improvement of health, through access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines, but also pharmaceutical care services.

During this day, it will be highlighted how, with their work in all areas of action, pharmacists contribute to transforming the health of all communities globally, both in terms of medicine and health in general through education health, research or teaching, among others.

This year in a special way FIP wants to highlight the important work of the pharmaceutical profession during the pandemic, both to stop its spread and to always guarantee access to medicines.

During the day many buildings will be illuminated in green to honor the work and efforts of pharmacists and pharmacists, including the emblematic Torre Glòries in Barcelona.

The FIP is a non-governmental organization that brings together various associations of pharmacologists and pharmacists around the world. It was founded on September 25, 1912 in The Hague (Netherlands) and today represents more than four million professionals.

The IFJ has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) and different governments around the world, offering technical expertise and executing joint projects, as well as contributing to action plans that seek advances in science, education and pharmaceutical practice.
