ISABELLA – The Aguadilla Highway Patrol Division investigated a serious pedestrian accident, which occurred around 4:30 in the afternoon on Monday, at the intersection of 5th and 6th streets, Mantilla sector of the Arenales Bajos neighborhood in Isabela.
The incident occurred while Eduardo Martínez Nieves, 21, a resident of Isabela, was driving a Toyota Corolla vehicle in a direction from south to north on Calle 5 and upon reaching the intersection with Calle 6, runs over pedestrian Omar Cruz Cardona, from 42 years.
Martínez Nieves told authorities that the pedestrian suddenly crossed the street, causing him to run over him.
Cruz Cardona, Isabela’s neighbor, was seriously injured. for which he was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Aguadilla, and from there to the Río Piedras Medical Center.
Martínez Nieves was tested for alcohol, which returned 0.00 percent.
Agent Efraín Sanabria and prosecutor Sharon Falak are investigating the incident.
