Several earthquakes shake the island at dawn


Several earthquakes shook the western area of ​​the island in the early morning and several of them were felt by the citizens of that area.

According to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network (PRSN), the first was felt at about 12:28 am and had a magnitude of 4.1, its epicenter was between the south of Lajas and Cabo Rojo. The entity reported that the maximum intensity felt by it was 4 in Cabo Rojo.

In social networks, many citizens reported having felt it strongly in municipalities such as Mayagüez, Cabo Rojo, Lajas and Guánica.

Four minutes later another 3.39 tremor was felt in the same region. While at 12:36 am another movement of magnitude 3.21 was registered in the same place. The last one in the morning was reported around 12:39 am and had a magnitude of 3.17.

Yesterday in the morning a total of 14 tremors were registered in the southwest of Puerto Rico with magnitudes between 2.5 and 3.6.

The tremors continue to occur at the same place in the seismic sequence that began in December last year and which had its largest event on January 7, 2020 with a 6.4 magnitude earthquake in which one person died and thousands of structures were damaged, mainly in the municipalities of the southwest of Puerto Rico.
