The president of the House Committee on Consumer Affairs, Yashira Lebrón Rodríguez, urged consumers to be vigilant at the prices of basic necessities in shops, before the preparations for the passage of the storm Laura for Puerto Rico.
The legislator referred to order 2020-017 issued this Friday by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO) that orders a price freeze for essential items purchased by consumers before surveillance or warning of this atmospheric event in our area.
“It is worthwhile to reinforce the message to all businesses about this order, so that they know that if they violate it, they may be exposed to sanctions, penalties or fines. For this reason, I urge consumers to be vigilant when making their purchases and to report to DACO any situation with the prices of items, supplies, or services necessary for this emergency, ”he indicated.
Representative Lebrón Rodríguez recommended to citizens be prepared for the entire hurricane season with the necessary supplies such as water, canned food, first aid supplies; as well as hygiene products to protect against Covid-19.
He recalled that the orders to freeze prices for hygiene and disinfection products also remain in force.
