SM Foundation invites teachers to participate in a comprehensive education seminar

It will be free of cost and virtually

The SM Foundation will hold, in virtual mode, the International Seminar on Comprehensive Education (SIEI): Keys to educate in a changing world in which the invited speakers will present various proposals to educate in a changing world.

Juan Reyes, general director of the organization in Puerto Rico, reported that the educational event is aimed at teachers and education professionals. He added that it will take place on October 22 and 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon through the Zoom platform.

“The event will be of great benefit to teachers and people related to the school community who face the unexpected challenge of adapting to virtual teaching and the changes in teaching methods that this brings. This year we have extraordinary professionals who will propose innovative proposals for our teachers who can register through the following link https://loom.ly/ZzZet1Q ”Reyes indicated.

The III SIEI of Puerto Rico will begin with a synchronous intervention by Dr. Dinah Kortright Roig, with an introductory presentation entitled Education: a transformative tool. In the second conference of the day, the Peruvian professor residing in Spain, Francisco Zariquiey, an expert in cooperative learning programs, will speak about core aspects of teaching in any setting. Zariquiey’s presentation is titled Learn to cooperate: Cooperate to learn, from face-to-face to virtual.

To close this first day of the SIEI, the Spanish professor Guillermo Cánovas, who directs the Educalike organization for network security, will present the talk Healthy and responsible use of technology: Body, brain, emotions and identity. Professor Cánovas will talk about the effects of digital connection and the use of technology in the development of the person.

The second day of SIEI will begin with the Mexican psychotherapist, Ivonne Klein, who will offer a lecture on the role of emotions in social-emotional development. The title of this paper, which promises to be very rich and relevant, is The socio-emotional care of teachers and students in a changing world. We will conclude the III SIEI with a sociological and philosophical analysis by Dr. César Rey in the conference entitled The pandemic and the educational paradigm shift.

The International Seminar on Comprehensive Education (SIEI) is an initiative of the SM Foundation. It originated in Mexico 15 years ago, and today it takes place in almost all the countries where the SM Foundation is present. In order to contribute to the future of education in each country, each year a different proposal is presented.
