Supreme Court welcomes PNP appeal to continue scrutiny


The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico accepted the appeal submitted by the New Progressive Party to order the State Elections Commission (CEE) to resume the vote count.

The commissioner of the PNP, Héctor Joaquín Sánchez Álvarez, reported that they presented through the electronic system of the Judicial Branch a appeal for certification and assistance of jurisdiction for the Supreme Court to order the scrutiny and recalled that interrupting an election process constitutes a crime.

“[P]owing to the urgency of giving purpose and certainty to the scrutiny process of the last general elections and to this judicial controversy, of the highest public interest, the case of Valentín Rivera v. Rosado Colomer “, reads the resolution.
