SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Teachers Association (AMPR), the exclusive representative of the teaching profession, raised its voice in the campaign Teachers united for the public education of children in order to emphasize that education is a constitutional right and that the State establishes that the Public education is free, non-sectarian and free.
“Our north is that they do not forget that the basis of a country is education. Today we are living through difficult times and the education of our children has been seriously affected, because both our teachers and our students do not have the necessary tools to carry out the work that corresponds to them, “said Elba Aponte Santos, president of the AMPR in written communication.
Aponte Santos extended an invitation to all public figures to support the affirmative actions that the organization is taking in favor of public education.
“When we come together as a people, wonderful results are obtained and that is what we want. We also call on candidates for governor to put education on their list of priorities, it is urgent, it is necessary. The Puerto Rican teaching profession is our greatest human resource and without them there would be no professionals. Let us value our teachers who always stick with it and give much more than the extra mile, “he added.
This coming Thursday, the AMPR will change the profile on all its digital platforms and will use the orange color with the hashtag # educacionesderecho this in solidarity with the children and teachers of the public education system who demand quality education.
