The number of homeless people in Puerto Rico increases

San Juan – Independent Senator José Vargas Vidot said Monday that the number of homeless people in Puerto Rico has increased.

“Has increased. In fact your profile has changed. We see more young people on the streets. People with more deterioration of their health. We see more women, who in the past were only 17 percent of the people on the streets. Today we are seeing many more people, ”said Vargas Vidot in an interview on Pegaos en la Mañana on Radio Isla with Julio Rivera Saniel.

“When I take my route (to distribute food), because I continue to do my route on Fridays, sometimes I do not spend five to six blocks, when the food that I carry that is supposed to give me to stay all night, at 3:00 in the morning I’m already coming back. In addition to the violence that is taking place (towards the homeless). Weekly we see one or two missing persons. People who have openly shot them, ”Vargas Vidot denounced.
