The Blood Bank of Puerto Rico announced this Thursday that it needs blood and platelet donors to increase reserves and thus be able to attend to any emergency.
The executive director of the Medical Services Administration of Puerto Rico, Jorge Matta González, said that they need about 60 blood donors and 12 platelets daily, but they are not currently reaching these figures.
"This Sunday, June 28, from 9:00 in the Tomorrow until 2:00 in the afternoon, the staff of the Blood Bank will be performing an sangria in the Gallery Room of the municipality of Añasco and on Monday, 29, another sangria has been organized at the Communal Center of Rincón at 9:00 : 00 am to 2:00 pm, "said Matta González, urging donors to participate.
The Blood Bank of Puerto Rico is located in the Medical Center in Río Piedras and supplies so much blood as platelets for all institutions nions served by said hospital.
“Our employees at the Blood Bank are positive that these donations help maintain our supplies that have been affected because with the Curfew, the bloodletting that was scheduled to be carried out had to be canceled. In addition, on Friday, July 3, another bleed will be carried out at the Ponce Comandancia at 9:00 am at 2:00 p.m.
Matta González explained that in these sangrías, children under 16 and 17 can donate blood with the consent of the father, mother or guardian. An officer of the Blood Bank will be in charge of filling out the consent form.
Meanwhile, adults must present a photo identification.
