San Juan – The Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana (MVC) expressed solidarity on Thursday with Alexandra Lúgaro, candidate for governor for MVC, and her daughter, as well as all victims and survivors of gender violence, after knowing the pardon granted today by Governor Wanda Vázquez, to Edwin Domínguez, who was Lúgaro’s husband,
“This person’s conviction was for violating orders of protection issued in favor of Alexandra and her youngest daughter. In other words, despite having orders for the protection of both, Mr. Domínguez was found guilty of carrying out acts in violation of said orders. Whoever confuses as love, what is persecution and harassment to try to justify people who do not comply with the protection orders in favor of their ex-partners and / or minors, do not understand what gender violence is, “he said. in a statement, Ana Irma Rivera, president of MVC.
“We know how enormous the gender attacks that Alexandra Lúgaro Aponte and her daughter suffered during the last electoral campaign. As part of these attacks, what Alexandra did to take care of her daughter, such as requesting protection orders, were mixed and taken out of context. Once again, now, at the end of the year, they receive the news of the Governor’s decision ”, he concluded.
