SAN JUAN – The president of the Incoming Transition Committee, CPA Manuel Díaz Saldaña, denounced on Wednesday the lack of transparency on the part of the outgoing administration.
“In this process, we have come across incomplete information over and over again. We request data and documentation that we are told will be delivered, but we continue to wait. This is not a rigged process; it is a mandate of law that the outgoing administration has endeavored to postpone. Let us remember that it was the Supreme Court with a unanimous ruling that forced the outgoing mayor to initiate the transition, ”Díaz Saldaña declared in written statements.
The former comptroller also added that “during the hearing in which the Municipal Police commissioner was summoned and security matters of the Capital were discussed, details were pending and doubts arose that we requested to be clarified in Executive Hearing. For today, we cited such a hearing, but we received the unfortunate reply that it would not be possible to hold it. Given the sensitivity of the issues to be discussed, the most prudent thing to do was to attend it in person, but the Outgoing Transition Committee refused this possibility ”.
He mentioned that the request was made in writing and the assistance of the commissioner of the San Juan Municipal Police, José Caldero López, was required or in the event that the commissioner could not attend in person, the deputy commissioner, William Marrero Ayala could supplant him.
“The security of the Capital City is a core issue. Details and doubts remain unclear. This refusal of the outgoing administration not to share the required information and not wanting to appear at this hearing, makes us wonder what they want to hide ”, concluded the president of the Incoming Transition Committee.
