They ask to include a measure to prohibit foam coolers on beaches in extraordinary session

The representative for Carolina, Ángel Matos asked Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced to include in the Special Session to convene PC 438, which has the purpose of prohibiting foam coolers in beaches and all bodies of water on the Island.

“Once again in the Isla Verde area and all of Puerto Rico we wake up with large amounts of garbage, highlighting the foam coolers that do so much damage to the environment. Even the message of leaving beaches clean by society needs tools and claws so that the very few who think that beaches are landfills, desist from the practice, "Matos said in written statements.

PC 438 proposes to prohibit the use of polystyrene coolers, better known as portable foam coolers, in spas in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and for other purposes.

"I hope that the measure will be included in the Extraordinary Session to be convened in the coming days and we will put an end to the foam coolers on our beaches and coasts," said Matos.
